Comments Xing.com is the main competitor to LinkedIn and now has about 5.5 million users. As a German company, it has also been successful in edging LinkedIn out of the German market.
Its portal lets you write your profile in a user-friendly way and helps you to find other profiles quite swiftly and accurately. Users need to upgrade to a paid account in order to see unlimited profiles in their network, instead of just the people who are directly connected to them. Unlike LinkedIn it is not so much recruiter-oriented. It also lets you state your business needs and wants. Each keyword is indexed and thus searchable. Although Xing could be considered more ‘friendly’ and ‘usable’ than LinkedIn, it has a smaller market share with the notable exception of Germany.
