Social Media ProfilesThis is a featured page

I shared on the For Immediate Release room on Friendfeed that "I'm preparing for a client some profiles on networks such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Xing, Twitter, etc. as a tool to help them understand in their own language who is in their community, and where their community might already be hanging out. This used to be called a 'media pack', produced for advertisers but also useful in communications planning to understand the aims, editorial focus, and readership of the media. I'd love to know if anyone else has produced something like this already, and would like to share it." Shel Holz suggested that I add them here for others to use - which I now do with pleasure.

I'm now attaching my first draft of these. Feel free to use, improve, or add to as you see fit. The approach I've taken is:
1. Video from the ‘… in Plain English’ series to demonstrate simply how people really use the network. 2. Any relevant media planning data as provided by the network itself (edited as necessary, quality/detail varies). 3. Useful links, including link to the relevant Wikipedia.com article.

So far, the most useful data from a communications planning perspective comes from LinkedIn, as it is the only one that gives a detailed breakdown on a number of different levels of its readership/membership, as a traditional media pack would. Getting an overview of Facebook was fairly inpenetrable, and data for Xing and Twitter was fairly thin.
